WE ARE THE CHURCH: RISE UP!

Jesus touched lepers, and he befriended prostitutes, and he enlisted tax collectors to be a part of his discipleship team.

Jesus loved those who hated him, and he blessed those who persecuted him, and he welcomed everybody, even those that religion rejected.

Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but to save the world. He came that we may have life, and life to the full.

Acts 2:42-47 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Everyone, was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. And all the believers were unified, they were together, and they had everything in common, that they sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts, they broke bread in their homes, and they ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God, and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily,"

We need a different mindset about our own role, and what we are to do, and who we are to be the church.

Number one, what are we going to be?

We will be an intensely devoted church, leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

“proskartereo” meaning to live in a constant state of relentless pursuit.

Because of who Jesus is, because of what he's done, we will be an intensely devoted church.

Number two, we'll be an irrationally generous church.

Acts 4:33 "And God's grace was so powerfully at work in all of them, that there were no needy persons among them."

We will be an irrationally generous church, because You just cannot out give God.

All the glory goes to God.

It is more blessed to give than to receive.

It's not a game, we are the Church bought by the shed blood of Jesus.

We will always unapologetically share the love of Jesus in all that we do.

I want to invite you to not just go to church, but be the church.

Change the object of your devotion.

Consider serving in church.

Join a D group or Sunday school class.

Start tithing.

Your heart follows where your giving goes.

The more you give, the more you love, and the more you get obsessed with the work of God.

Commit to pray daily.

We gather to exalt God, edify others, and equip to serve.

In Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be and are strong enough that we can meet the majority of needs in our Church, our community, and around the world.

Jesus said "I will build the church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against us."

Ephesians 3:20-21"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask, think, or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, To him be the glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus, through generations to come, forever and ever. Amen.”

We are the church of Jesus Christ. Let the church rise up!
