JESUS:THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING HIS LOVE

The attribute of God which is the most difficult to believe is the attribute of love.

Christmas is about is God loving sinners.

Christmas is the event that focuses on divine redemption.

Romans 5:8 “…while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

God’s love is the theme of Christmas.

The love of God to the world is manifest in His common grace or His general goodness.

God manifests His love in an unlimited way to the whole world in terms of His compassion: He pities.

God’s love to the whole world is seen in warnings.

While God loves the whole world, He does not love them to the degree that He loves His own.

Those who belong to the Lord are the special objects of His love.

The love God has for the world is temporal, it exists only in the framework of time.

God loves His own with a love that is far beyond anything that we could ever imagine or fathom.

Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving and producing divine love in and through us through the Holy Spirit: Galatians 5:22a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

The Lord loves His own in a way that is going to be demonstrated throughout all eternity

1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God, and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

First of all, God’s love has acted toward us. It has acted for us.

1 John 4:9 “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.”

1 John 4:10, “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

Propitiation means that He is the sacrifice. He is the atoning sacrifice.

God loves the world. The decision that Jesus Christ should die was a voluntary decision but it was made by God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The big issue between God and us is sin.

God’s love acted for us

.

God’s love acts in us.

1 John 4:12-15 “No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior or the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”

1 John 4:17a “By this is love perfected with us, so that we might have confidence for the day of judgment.”

The love of God abides in all those who know God.

God creates within us a love that we do not have naturally. And this love is created within us.

God’s love works in us, but God’s love also acts through us.

1 John 4:19-20a “We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, he is a liar.”

1 John 1:5-6 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6  If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

1 John 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ?

1 John 2:9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

Let it never be said that the world can out-love us because we have within us the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts.

The love of God is lived out in our hearts.

Love is very costly.

God chose to suffer to redeem us and to show us love, and love is always costly.

If you want to be Godlike, love your enemies. Do good to them. Pray for them.

Love costs us something.

God loves you and it’s costly to Him but He loves you anyway, and we should love in return.

Love actually heals.

1 John 3:1-2“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared, but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.”

His eye is upon you as a believer and He loves you.

Jesus is the gift that keeps on giving His love to us, in us, and through us! That’s what we celebrate at Christmas.
