Josh Smith

Facilities Manager

Josh's life is a powerful testament to the transformative power of faith and second chances. After spending almost 20 years in prison, he emerged a changed man, grateful for the people God had placed in his path. It was during his time in prison that he discovered the Celebrate Recovery (CR) ministry, and although he initially attended simply to comply with prison rules, he soon realized the impact it was having on his life. After his release, he continued attending CR and began assisting at The Heights church. He used his skills to contribute to various projects, such as laying tile and repairing ceilings, all while working full time.

Josh extends his compassion to others, including a homeless man who had never known stability in his life. Through sharing his own experiences and providing practical assistance, Josh and the Celebrate Recovery ministry helped the man find employment, learn how to manage his finances, and start building a solid foundation for his future. Josh firmly believes that commitment is more than mere compliance; it requires wholehearted dedication and hard work. He has found deep fulfillment in his role as a sponsor, offering support to others who are facing similar challenges.

Josh's journey is a testament to God's faithfulness and the power of community. He recognizes that God has been connecting the dots in his life, and his work at The Heights is not merely a job but a calling. He has seen the transformation that can occur when individuals are given a chance and provided with support and guidance. Recently, he and his wife were called to The Landing, an extension of Celebrate Recovery focused on helping troubled teens. Josh's life serves as an inspiring example of the profound impact that faith, love, and determination can have in overcoming life's obstacles and bringing hope to those who need it most.
