THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD:

SAY NO TO WORRY

Psalm 23:1 (ESV) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Matthew 6:25–30 (CSB) “Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? 27 Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. 30 If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you—you of little faith?

Worry is unhelpful because it never accomplishes anything, it never solves anything.

Worry is unreasonable.

Worry is unhealthy.

I MUST BELIEVE GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF ME

Ps. 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. ((I have everything I need.)"

1. A shepherd provides.

2. A shepherd protects.

3. A shepherd guides.

4. A shepherd corrects.

Isaiah 40:11a "God takes care of his people like a shepherd."

John 10:11 (ESV) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

Hebrews 13:20–21 (ESV)Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Phil. 4:19 "My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

Worry is unnecessary if Jesus Christ is your Shepherd.

So You Must Trust Jesus as Savior and Lord of Your Life

Jesus Christ is Lord in your life if He's calling the shots in your life

.

John 10:14, 27 "Jesus said, `I am the good shepherd... my sheep know me ... they listen to my voice, and they follow me."

Worry is a control issue.

Whenever you try to control the uncontrollable you're going to worry.

You have two options -- either you can be in control of your life or you can let God be in control of your life.

Most of the things in your life you can't control.

You Must Begin Praying About Everything

I can panic or I can pray.

Philippians 4:6–7 (CSB) Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

“God's ability is greater than your anxiety.”

1 Peter 5:6–7 (CSB) Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.

“Casting” means to throw down away from you, to let it go.

YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE IN HIM ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Matthew 6:34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries.

Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday.

Matthew 6:11 "Give us today our daily bread."

Overcoming worry is a day to day choice.

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
