The Foundation That Will Not Crumble: Absolute Truth for Believers and a Nation
What foundation are we building our lives and our nation upon — the solid rock of Absolute Truth or the sinking sand of Relative Truth?
America was founded on principles from the Ten Commandments, the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels, and the Letters of the New Testament
Isaiah 59:1-5, 14 “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken falsely, and your tongue mutters wicked things. No one calls for justice; no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies; they conceive trouble and give birth to evil. They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider’s web… So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.”
John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 17:17 “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”
Colossians 1:5–6 (ESV) “…Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,
Absolute Truth Is Not an Idea — It Is a Person: Jesus Christ.
When we reject absolute truth, we are rejecting Jesus Himself.
God’s Word is the only reliable source of Absolute Truth.
Building our lives or laws on anything else = building on Sinking Sand.
The true Gospel produces real Faith, Hope, and Love.
The Dangers of Building on Relative Truth
Separation from God (v. 2)
Moral and Social chaos (vv. 3-5)
Relative truth always hatches Vipers.
Truth Stumbles & righteousness stands Afar Off (v. 14)
The Benefits of Building on Absolute Truth
Personal Sanctification— God’s truth sets us free from sin and makes us people of integrity.
Genuine Hope — unstealable, unshakeable Hope stored up in heaven.
National Blessing — justice returns, righteousness draws near, families strengthened, laws reflect God’s character.
Humbly acknowledge that apart from God we know Nothing.
Come to Scripture not as a critic, but as a little Child.
Ask the Holy Spirit to open your understanding.
