America’s 250th Birthday and the Importance of the Revival of the
Church
2 Chronicles 7:13–14 (The Living Bible, Paraphrased) If I shut up the
heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust swarms to eat
up all of your crops, or if I send an epidemic among you, 14 then if my
people will humble themselves and pray, and search for me, and turn from
their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and
heal their land.
God’s 3-Fold Conditional Promise (What God will do when His people meet
His conditions):
1. I will hear from heaven (Psalm 66:18-19 – God hears when there is
no regard for iniquity in the heart.)
2. Forgive their sin (2 Peter 3:9, 1 Timothy 2:3–4, John 3:16)
3. Heal their land
The 5 Conditions of 2 Chronicles 7:14
1. If my people, called by my name In the Old Testament: Israel. Today:
Those saved by faith in Jesus Christ.
2. Humble themselves
3. Pray (See Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
4. Seek God’s face Diligently search for God’s face / will, study His Word,
seek to please Him with all our heart, mind, and strength.
5. Turn from their wicked ways
Individual Christian Fellowship When facing personal trials or chastisement
for sin:
Humbly confess our sins (1 John 1:9). God will forgive, cleanse, and
restore fellowship with Him.
America is not Israel; this is not a direct national promise for any modern
nation.
Our culture has grown dark because many Christians have lost their salt and
light (Matthew 5:13-16).
True revival requires widespread repentance among God’s people first.
We must humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from worldly
ways.
Revival begins in the house of God (the church).
What sin do I need to confess and turn from today?
How can I be salt and light in my sphere of influence?
Prayer focus for revival in our nation and the Church: Joel 2:12-14 – “Turn
to Me with all your heart… Rend your heart… Return to the LORD your God,
for He is gracious and merciful… Who knows if He will turn and relent, and
leave a blessing…”
